John Finlayson was a Scottish soldier on the VOC ship New Rotterdam (skipper Jocchum Claesz) in 1657. He, along with John Woet [SSNE 7944], left his rent to William Williamson [SSNE 7945], another Scot who lived in Glashaven with his wife, Maddeleengte Abramsdr. He left further funds to his mother, Barbara Jackson, who was living in Stirling. In case of her death, John named his brother, William Finlayson (who also lived in Stirling), his heir.
