Captain John Kinnemond (jr) served in Colonel William Gunn's squadron in 1636 alongside his father. He participated at the battle of Wittstock in October 1636 (and survived). He may be the same as Lieutenant Colonel John 'Kinninmonth' who appeared on a list of Scottish soldiers who petitioned the Scottish Parliament on 7 October 1641 regarding having been taken prisoner on return from the German wars in May 1639, first near Flamborough, then at Newcastle and finally at London Tower for a total period of three months - all at their own expense. They not only had to pay for their own incarceration but lost all their possessions, particularly their weapons, in the process. As stated in his petitions, his rank as Lieutenant Colonel was derived from service in the Army of the Palatine, and he was captured at the Battle of Vlotho Bridge (Lemgo) along with his servant, George Hay in October 1638.
