SPENCE, ANDREW [SSNE 7598]
Andrew Spence acquired citizenship in Bremen on 17 November 1636. The registrar noted that he originated from 'Hitland' i.e. Shetland. Spence remained in the city at least until the mid-1640s when he twice paid taxes as a pearl embroiderer. His son, James, received his citizen rights in 1669.
