David Dachs became the major and commander of 1,400 Swedish dragoons, probably the father of David Dachs [SSNE 2151]. He complained in February 1632 that he should quarter these dragoons in the district of Steuerwald, belonging to the town of Hildesheim (Lower Saxonia). It would be impossible, because the peasants had run away. He threatened the council of Hildesheim with burning down that village should the peasants not return.
