Gerge Ernest von Melville was a son of Colonel Andrew Melville [SSNE 3071]and his wife Sophia de la Motte. Educated at the court of Georg Wilhelm, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg (1624-1705) Georg Ernest von Melville later became General and governor of Hameln and Hanover. In 1702 he got an estate near Celle, previously owned by the family of von Habighorst. After the death of Georg Ernst von Melville in 1742 the estate went to his sister Charlotte Sophia Anna Melville-von Schulenburg and thus came into possession of the von Schulenburg-family. The siblings of George Ernest were Patrick Melville [SSNE 7154] and Charlotte Sophia Anna Melville [SSNE 7156]. This article was provided by Kurt Bontius.
