Philip Foster/Forster worked in Stockholm in 1693. On 23 June that year he and Richard Thomlinson [SSNE 7162] wrote to Andrew Russell [SSNE 143] pressing the urgency of Robert Jaffray's [SSNE 7160] wife to go to Stockholm. They mentioned that the answer from Robert's owners in Sweden had been left open (so it was not secret). They noted some business with one Gravelius who was promising more money against the next post which, if it arrived, they would remit with the previous and follow his owner to London or Amsterdam. Forster and Tomlinson cashed a bill of exchange in Stockholm for 1000 rixdaler against Andrew Russell's account with Mr Andreus Stromner on 29 September 1695. On 31 December 1696, Patrick Thomson submitted an account of his transactions with Philip Forster & Company in Stockholm to Andrew Russell. This noted that Foster's current account was 65788 (rdl) while his balance was 11239-25 (rdl)
