Christian Sinclair arrived in the Dutch Republic and worked in Den Bosch in June 1689. He wrote to his cousin, Andrew Russell [SSNE 143] in Rotterdam on 27 June to let him know of the birth of Sinclair's son and that his wife had an easy birth. That September he wrote again to express his regret that Russell was out of pocket due to him. Promised to make good when Russell could get the money to him "for I being a stranger and hath not the lanedge and know not of a surer hand houps that you will order som person to get it here".
