A Lieutenant Colonel Moneypenny served in a regiment of horse in Swedish service in 1632. It was probably this man 'Colonel William Moneypenny' who married Euphemia Spens daughter of Sir James Spens of Wormiston (as noted in the Swedish peerage). He may be the brother of Patrick Moneypenny [SSNE 3107]
