Captain Legg served in Germany with the Swedish Allies during the Thirty Years' War. He kept the company of the author of the Swedish Intelligencer and other soldiers from James Marquis Hamilton's [SSNE 1348] army. He probably joined service therefore after June 1630 and was still in the field in 1632.
