FIELDING, EDWARD [SSNE 6900]
Text source
Captain Edward Fielding served as a captain for a company in the army of the James Marquis of Hamilton [SSNE 1348] destined for Swedish service in June 1630. He was permitted to recruit for his company in Warwick, Northampton, Wrcester and Kent. Captain Fielding contributed information to the author of the Swedish Intelligencer in 1632 and was captured by Croats on 1 November that year along with Lieutenant Colonel Francis Terret and Major John Pawlet. It is interesting to note that Baron Basil Fielding was brother-in-law to Hamilton and served as a volunteer soldier in 1629 on the continent and may have been a relative of this man.
