WEIR, JOHN [SSNE 6711]
Text source
John Weir [Hans Wijr] a merchant from Edinburgh in Scotland went to court in Stockholm on 3 November 1615 stating that he delivered 23 shippounds of bar iron to skipper Cornelius Joenson a burgess of Flensburgh. This was to be re-shipped to himself and Tomas Engelssch, a burgess of Edinburgh. A problem arose leading to the court case. Records in the British Library indicate he was still resident in Stockholm the following year. Confer [SSNE 5929], where a namesake from Ediburgh operated in Poland around the same time and may be the same man?.
