Text source

Solomon Fife was the son of Alexander Fife, a Scottish merchant from Montrose, and his wife Jeannetta Rind/Rhynd. He emigrated in the 1630s to Stockholm where he became a burgess and a goldsmith. His brothers Donald/Donat [SSNE 782], David [SSNE 708], and James [SSNE 4779] also migrated to Stockholm and became burgesses there. One source notes that it was Solomon's son, Donat and his nephew Henry who followed suit in the gold trade. However, other Donat Feifs found in Sweden appear to have been related to Solomon's brother, also called Donat. Indeed a Solomon Feif [SSNE 731] enrolled at Uppsala university in 1680 - this may have been Solomon's son.
