Text source
William Cowe was one of the 8 Scottish merchants appointed by King August 2 to serve the Polish court on 4 October 1697. He is probably the same as William Cane (?) noted as one of the 8 Scottish merchants appointed to the Polish court who in September 1703 complained that their workshops had been torn down by Warsaw city councillors. King August 2 requested that the Scots have their premises returned to themA.F.
