In 1611 Peter Maclean was entertained by Jacob Maclean/Makler in Stockholm, along with 2 other Scottish merchants from Danzig. Peter apparently then moved to Warsaw. When King Sigismund III of Poland in 1613 granted 8 Scottish merchants the right to trade freely with his court, after their outstanding service to his court on its campaign against Muscovy, Peter Makalienski's (Maclean) name was amongst the 8 listed.
