John Tommason, a Scot belonging to Hamburg, skippered a Hamburg ship which got involved in an incident for not striking her topsail in British waters. Tommason was taken into custody and placed in irons for refusing to pay for the shot fired at his ship during the incident. After agreeing to pay he was released.
