Gabriel was born on 1 January 1685. He was the nephew of Lt General Carl Magnus Stuart. His father was Johan Robert Stuart (son of David of Farsta, son of Hans) and his mother was Beata Gyllenanker. Gabriel volunteered for service with the fortification engineers and became Konductor on the same day as his brother Johan, but on Karlskrona. In 1709 he served as the regimental quartermaster for the Narke and Varmland. He died in 1733 in Åbylund. On the 21 August 1715 he married Margaretta Ysing and was the Great great grandfather of the great fortifier Carl Werner Stuart.
