Text source

James Lindsay who had been a citizen of Gothenburg since 1621, was the brother to another Scottish burgess of Gothenburg, John (Hans) Lindsay [SSNE 4685] and possibly a relative of the Stockholm burgess William Lindsay [SSNE 802]. Grage noted that he left Gothenburg for a time after 1636 (as he had not fulfilled his obligation to build a house) and went to Marstrand. However he later returned to Gothenburg. He was amongst the citizens listed ca. 1639 where he was described as a general trader/merchant.
