Alexander Lowrie was the son of John Lowrie who became ennobled as Lagergren. Alexander held lands in Oby, Bladinge. By 1641 he appears on the muster rolls of the Kalmar Regiment where he became a lieutenant in 1646 Thereafter he appears to have left military service. However Svenska Adelns Ättartavlor notes that by 1656 he had advanced to captain. In 1674 Alexander Lowrie served as a major and commandant of the Kalmar garrison in Nystad. He was at the seige of Kristianopel and after 1677 he became the governor of the fort. Lowrie died soon after 1686. He was twice married to Swedish women. According to Svenska Adelns Ättartavlor, this was not a Scottish family!Swedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, Kalmar Regiment 1641-1648; G. Elgenstierna, Svenska Adelns Attartavlor, vol. 4, p.513; F.
