Georg Belfrage was one of the sons of John/Hans Belfrage [SSNE 4339]. He was born on 6 August 1651, and studied at Uppsala University in 1666. He became a volunteer in the Lifeguard in 1668, and had joined the Älvsborg regiment as an ensign the following year. He moved to Västgötadal regiment in 1670 and became a lieutenant there in 1674. Within four years he gained promotion to lieutenant captain in 1678 and made captain the following year. Belfrage left service on 23 March 1700. George had six brothers, including Lt. Colonel Henrik Johan Belfrage [SSNE 4340] and Lt. Colonel Bengt Belfrage [SSNE 4761]who served in the army, and Jakob [SSNE 4762]. His sisters were Jonetta [SSNE 6356], Christina [SSNE 6357], Elisabet [SSNE 6358], Maria [SSNE 6359] and Ingrid [SSNE 6360]. George married Ingeborg Posse
