T. Riis, Should Auld Acquaintance be Forgot (Odense, 1988), II, p.284. Ebel studied at the Universities of Copenhagen, 1638; Leiden, 1640 and Oxford, 1641. From 1648, Ebel served the Stuart cause in Scotland. He returned to Denmark and became Governor of Moen by 1657.
