Text source

Robert Udnie was the son of Arthur Udnie of Menie and Margaret Pittendreich. Robert migrated from Aberdeenshire, Scotland to Narva where he settled and established himself as a burgess. He moved to Viborg, in Sweden-Finland around 1625 and became a merchant there. Robert died in 1635. One Alexander Leslie [SSNE 4947] became involved in trying to resolve Udnie's financial affairs in 1638, but found himself in an entangled web with Udnie's debtors. He wrote to Axel Oxenstierna in May 1638 seeking for support in his dealings with the council of Viborg who had appropriated Udnie's assets.
