Patrick Sydserf was in Swedish service in James Ramsay's regiment from 1628-1634, when he attained the rank of lieutenant. He is the most likely candidate for the man noted by Monro as a major by the end of 1632 and eventually killed at Nordlingen on 6 September 1634.
