Peter Ogilvie was an ensign in James Seaton's [SSNE 3474] Hofregiment in Riga in 1621 and an ensign with Filip von Mansfeld's company of the Svea Livgarde in 1621-1624. He later returned to Seaton's before serving with James Spens [SSNE 1642], again in Riga. He apparently died on 7 September 1625.

Dr Peter Paul Bajer kindly sent the following information: According to an inscription on his memorial, Ogilvie descended from the Earls of Airlie. He was a commander of a foot regiment under Spanheim, serving in the army of Gustav Adolf. Ogilvie died valiantly during the storming of stronghold of Birzai in 1625. He was ‘struck by a lead bullet / fired from a blunderbuss’. The King interred the remains of his soldier in Birzai and most likely errected his memorial. – S. Starowolski, Monumenta Sarmatarum, viam universae carnis ingressorum, (Cracoviae: in Officina Viduae et Haeredum Francisci Caesarij, 1655), 309.
