Robert Monro was one of several Scottish officers of that name in Swedish service. He was a major in Colonel Robert Monro's [SSNE 94] regiment in 1639 and is possibly Sir Robert Munro, 3rd Baronet of Foulis, 21st Baron and 24th chief of Clan Munro. If so he had been in Mackay's Regiment in Denmark in 1627
