Text source

Hector Monro was a reformed ensign in Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in 1630 and confirmed in 1632. In 1638-9 he was a lieutenant in Robert Monroe's [SSNE 94] recruited infantry regiment. Hector Monro in 1650 wrote to Duke Karl noting his twenty years of service to the Swedish Crown, in particular the fact that he paid the 400 riksdaler ransom for some Bavarian prisoners from his own pocket, as well as paying 300 riksdaler to strengthen his company. He therefore requested the payment of his reimbursement as he was about to return to Scotland
