William Lundie was a Scottish officer in Swedish service. He was a captain in Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in 1630. He is probably the same as William Lundie, son of Sir John Lundie of that Ilk who died in 1605 and whose estate then passed to his eldest son James, who was apparently a bit 'simple of mind'. The late Sir John's brother, Sir James Lundie, was keen to take over his deceased brother's estate and so decided to remove his younger nephews William and John and  "pat thame both furth of the cuntrie to fecht for thair leiving". Although the source doesn't name the country, it later describes William as "ane capitane in Suaden". Further, the eldest surviving son of the late Sir John, James (the simple-minded) had been persuaded to sign over his estate to his wife, and when she died James was also sent abroad to "seik his fortoun at the weiris" despite being 54 years of age! James died within a month of landing in Sweden. By 1634 this left William Lundie the next in line to inherit and he made his way to Scotland to claim his right, but apparently William died shortly thereafter.
