Peter Wyche is mentioned in a letter from Patrick Gordon to Sir Joseph Williamson as the 'English' special envoy to Russia. He certainly conducted a special embassy to Denmark during October and November 1679, departing from his usual duties as resident ambassador to Bremen, Lubeck and Hamburg, residing mostly in the latter city. In 1685 was reconfirmed in this position, basing himself for long periods in Lubeck.
