James Johan Fraser was a Scottish officer in Swedish service. He served first as a "forare" in J von Cronman's recruited infantry regiment, then in 1684 he became lieutenant, but was also sergeant, ensign and lieutenant. In 1685 he was in Funcken's regiment. By 1686 he was in Ingermanland garrison regiment. He left to join English and Dutch service but returned as a captain in Sweden by 1700. He died as a Lt. Colonel in 1718.
