Alexander Forbes served first as a reformed captain in Alexander Leslie's [SSNE 1], then he became a major in Arvid Forbus' [SSNE 2227] regiment. It was probably this man who Monro noted as 'The Bald' as lieutenant-colonel in Swedish service in 1632 and subsequently a colonel. He led a mixed Irish-Scottish regiment and had recruited a new regiment in Thuringia under the command of Wilhelm IV of Saxe-Weimar. He was buried in November 1636 in Eisenach.
