An officer by the name of Butler, probably Irish, served in the Swedish army in the second half of the 1650s. He was first a master of horse in H von Ahlefeld's recruited cavalry regiment in 1656. Then he became major in Meijer's recruited cavalry squadron, which he departed in 1660.
