Sir Jerome Bowes is listed as an ambassador who was temporarily banished from the English court for slandering the Earl of Leicester in 1577. He served as ambassador to Russia in 1583, but was dismissed after the death of Tsar Ivanvasilovitch. Bowes is also mentioned as an attendant of the Russian Ambassador in England in 1601Dictionary of National Biography; G. M.
