Andrew Bruce served first in James Spens' [SSNE 1642] regiment, then in Robert Leslie's [SSNE 2932] recruited regiment, and finally in William Bellenden's [SSNE 1969] regiment. Part of this regiment participated at the battle of Lutzen in 1632 under the command of Ludovick Leslie.

Swedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1629/22; 1631/22-27; 1632/30.
