Andrew Bruce served first in James Spens' [SSNE 1642] regiment, then in Robert Leslie's [SSNE 2932] recruited regiment, and finally in William Bellenden's [SSNE 1969] regiment. Part of this regiment participated at the battle of Lutzen in 1632 under the command of Ludovick Leslie.
Swedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1629/22; 1631/22-27; 1632/30. It was probably this man who served as lieutenant colonel to the Stirlingshire Foot in the Army of the Solemn League and Covenant in 1644.See A list of the Several Regiments and Chief Officers of the Scottish Army quartered neer Newcastle (London 1644); Ed.
