James Adamson served as a reformed lieutenant in Swedish service in John Ruthven's [SSNE 191] recruited infrantry regiment. This is possibly the same James Adamson listed by Fedosov as having served in the Russian army in the seventeenth century. This is hard to say since Fedosov is not always forthcoming with dates.
