Andrew Burnett was a son of Thomas Burnett. In 1661 he joined Russian service from that Poland as lieutenant along with other Scots. Friend of P.Gordon who once saved him from fighting a duel. Colonel by 1678 when he took part in Chirgirin campaign receiving several light wounds in battle with Turks on the Dnieper.D. Fedosov, The Caledonian Connection (Aberdeen, 1996). p.16
