Henry Forbes emigrated from Scotland to Sweden and became a captain with Scottish troops in King Karl IX's service. He fought in the king's wars with Poland, against Sigismund, and died on 27 September 1605 at the battle of Kirkholm in Livonia. In 1586, he married Margareta Forbes [SSNE 1704], eldest daughter of William Forbes of Corse and Elizabeth Strachan (aka Susanna Strachan). They had two sons, Peter [SSNE 1671] and James [SSNE 779], who were both ennobled and served the Swedish state.
