George Young was the Archdeacon of St. Andrews, and possibly a Privy Councillor, who twice visited Denmark-Norway as part of diplomatic missions. He served as a member of the embassy to Denmark-Norway in 1589, where he spent the winter 1589-90. He was also a member of the embassy to Denmark-Norway in 1594 led by Peter YoungT.
