William Ryter Inglis served as a royal messanger and was sent with three others to Denmark with deer hounds summer 1599. He returned to Denmark in the Autumn of 1600 with James Chalmer when he took back falcons to Scotland along with a letter for James VI from Christian IV. He was again in Denmark at the end of 1601-beginning of 1602, after which he returned with a letter for Prince Henry Frederick from Christian IV. During this trip he signed Tage Thott's Stammbuch at Falkland 8/7/1602. Another trip was made to Denmark in the Spring of 1603.T. Riis, Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot (Odense, 1988), p.73.
