HACKETT, GEORGE [SSNE 1527]
Text source
George Hackett was a member of an embassy to Denmark in 1564 under the direction of Douglas of Whittingham. He also served as Scottish conservator at Veere and was sent to Denmark in 1591 in order to obtain restitution for Scottish merchants whose ships and goods, among other things iron, had been arrested during the war 1563-70 near the Dano-Swedish frontier when they were preparing their return voyage to Scotland.
