John Herbert acted as an Ambassador to Denmark, Prussia, Poland and the Hanse towns between 1583 and 1585. Later, Ralph Eure, Dr Daniel Dunn and Sir John Herbert were sent to Bremen to negotiate with the Danes and the Hanse towns. Their Secretary was Stephen Lesieur. Herbert also took on an embassy to the Dutch Republic in 1587.
