Thesis: Remembering the Great War in Britain, 1939-45
Supervisor: Professor Gerard DeGroot

Research Interests:

  • The social, cultural and military history of Britain during the two World Wars
  • The cultural effects of Great War memory

My doctoral thesis, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, will examine how ‘memories’ of the Great War – set against a background of myth, narrative, and literature – conditioned attitudes and perceptions, along with personal, political and national identities, articulated in Britain during the Second World War.
