Institute for Population, Wellbeing and Environment Research  (I-POWER)

Established in 2012, the Institute for Population, Wellbeing and Environment Research (I-POWER) brings together all staff and research students across the school to ensure that we communicate effectively with each other, and externally, on our research successes, interests and activities. I-POWER aims to build links across traditions, offering new opportunities to cohere research capacity around major areas of socio-environmental concern, nurturing integrative research around 'big issue' themes that link, for example, meanings of power and good governance, health, housing, environmental policy, and demographic and environmental change.

I-POWER activities are a mix of formal seminar events hosting external speakers recognised as leading international researchers in their field, informal research forums and roundtable discussions, and training events focused particularly at our growing community of postgraduate research students.
