Spatial, sectorial and temporal trends in A8 migration to the UK 2004-2011: evidence from the Worker Registration Scheme

Thursday 12 April 2012

David McCollum, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Housing Research, recently produced a report and ran a knowledge exchange event at the COSLA offices in Edinburgh based on a research project funded by the AQMeN (Applied Quantitative Methods Network) Collaborative Small Grants Scheme. The project involved collating and analysing data from the Worker Registration Scheme to shed light on the nature of East-Central European migration flows to the UK. A ‘user-friendly’ dataset was also produced which allows analysts to examine these trends from the perspective of their local authority or area of interest. The knowledge exchange event was attended by around 25 academics, local authorities and charities and involved discussion of the results of the analysis and their implications for service provision. David will give a seminar at the National Records of Scotland at Ladywell House in Edinburgh on 16th May 2012 based on the research.
