DGSD students and staff lead community beach clean-up

Friday 29 April 2016

To mark the end of a hectic second semester, students (honours and postgraduates) and staff from DGSD gathered on the East Sands beach this week for a Departmental BBQ and beach clean-up during a window of glorious spring sunshine!

The photograph shows of a few of the beach clean-up team, including Ranald Strachan (2nd left, back row) who led the clean-up team on behalf of Fife Countryside Rangers (Ranald also led some of our students on a guided introduction to coastal management on the West Sands beach last semester). DGSD 3rd year student Kathryn Haddick (3rd left, back row) and her colleagues from the University’s canoe club provided a kayaking ‘taster’, while DGSD secretary Natalie Connell and her team of cooks (Matt Sothern, Nina Laurie) kept everyone well-fed!
