New 2nd year Geography field trip launched

Thursday 21 April 2016

Over the weekend of April 15-17 a group of staff took the 2nd year Geography class to the stunning West Highlands.

Based at the Youth Hostel at the foot of Ben Nevis, this new addition to the programme included visits to Glen Roy, Glenfinnan and Glen Coe, discussing the glacial history, upland estate management, the long-term story of Scots Pine forest, cultural (re)constructions of events like the Glencoe Massacre and the Jacobite Rebellion, and even how Harry Potter works magic for today's tourist trade.  The sun shone, and it was a very interesting and enjoyable weekend.  The plan is to make this an annual fixture.
