McKee and Hoolachan Present at JHI

Wednesday 04 November 2015

DGSD Senior Lecturer Kim McKee, and Research Assistant Jenny Hoolachan, presented their emerging work on ‘Generation Rent’ in a Scottish context at an invited seminar at the James Hutton Institute.

Speaking to the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences (SEGS) research group, Kim and Jenny highlighted how their work challenges traditional understandings of youth transitions, moreover they traced the increasing challenges facing young people trying to put down roots and create a ‘home’ of their own.  The paper drew on recent Leverhulme and Carnegie funded research projects on young people’s housing tenure choices co-authored with Adriana Soaita and Tom Moore.
