New studentship opportunity in 'SHOW – health Smart Homes for Older peoples’ Wellbeing’

Tuesday 18 November 2014

A new PhD studentship opportunity in Geography & Sustainable Development is now available.

PhD in ‘SHOW – health Smart Homes for Older peoples’ Wellbeing’

with the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences at the James Hutton Institute and Department of Geography & Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews

Supervisors: Dr Currie & Dr Irvine (James Hutton Institute) and Dr Reid (University of St Andrews)

Funding Status: Studentship will only be fully funded for UK / EU candidates for up to 4 years.

This four year fully funded studentship will critically examine the utility of ‘health smart homes’ (HSH) to enhance the wellbeing of older people in rural Scotland. Enabling older people to remain in their own homes as long as possible promotes their wellbeing (Chan, et al., 2009, Milligan et al., 2011) and is perceived to reduce pressures on the National Health Service (Scottish Government, 2012).

Deadline is the 2nd of January 2015.
