Sun, Sea and Sand for DGSD Intern

Monday 28 July 2014

The Department has recently hosted Leonie Strobl from the European School of Varese, Italy. Leonie (17) joined Dr Austin's research group for her month-long stay at the University of St Andrews and has been assisting with palaeoclimate research projects. This coming December, Leonie intends to make her University application choices - Geography being one of her main subject preferences.

The photograph below shows Leonie assisting Nicole Yule (final year Geography student) with her dissertation research project, which aims to establish a carbon inventory in the sediments of the local Eden Estuary. L to R: Leonie Strobl, Nicole Yule and a very youthful looking Dr Austin (actually Bill's 8 year-old son)!
