Congratulations to Craig Smeaton, a first year NERC-funded PhD student in the Department of Geography & Sustainable Development, who has been awarded a research grant of £500 from the Farrell & Harwood Memorial Fund.

Craig's award from the Farrell & Harwood Memorial Fund of the British Sedimentological Research Group is for his project: "Linking terrestrial Carbon Sources to Marine Sinks: a sediment provenance study quantifying sediment & carbon transport in a small coastal catchment".

Craig will be presenting preliminary results from his work at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2014, Vienna in early May with additional conference support from SAGES. Craig's project is suppervised by William Austin and Althea Davies of the Environmental Geography research group; the external (SAGES graduate school) supervisor is Dr John Howe at the Scottish Association for Marine Sciences.
