Geography & Sustainable Development students evaluate Fife Shoreline Management Plan

Thursday 14 November 2013

Department of Geography & Sustainable Development honours students taking module GG3271 (Coastal Processes) were recently visited by Mr Murray Scott (Lead Professional with Fife Council's Transportation & Environmental Services department), who delivered a guest lecture and afterwards led a group of the students to view a local coastal management project at the Swilken Burn on West Sands beach and adjacent to the St Andrews Old Course. Students enjoyed an excellent presentation and account of the complex, real-world issues facing shoreline management in Fife and beyond.

The photograph below shows Mr Scott with members of the GG3271 module, overlooking St Andrews Bay on a rather chilly, late afternoon in early November (photograph: W. Austin).
