Graduate School retreat for SAGES PhD students

Thursday 07 November 2013

The SAGES (Scottish Alliance for Geoscience, Environment and Society) graduate school recently held its annual (2013) retreat at the Burn, near Edzell, attended by staff/students from participating Scottish Universities (including St Andrews).

SAGES is a Scottish Funding Council research pooling initiative and its Head of Graduate School is Bill Austin (St Andrews). The event at the Burn, which included student-led research presentations, research seminars, team-building, discussions and wine-tasting was also supported by Trevor Hoey (SAGES Director, Glasgow), Robert Wilson and Althea Davies (St Andrews).

The photograph below shows Bill Austin (Head, SAGES Graduate School) with some of the postgraduate students who ventured for a walk to the Queens Well, Glenesk on the final morning of the three-day retreat.
